Guan Ware Green Glaze Vase with Bamboo Shoots Design
Period : Southern Song dynasty,China(1127 - 1279) / 12-13C
Size : H17cm W10.4cm
A vase made in the South Song Official kiln.
It has a typical shape of the Southern Song Dynasty Guan Ware, and is decorated like bamboo joints.
Banboo-shaped changes slightly depending on the kiln and era in which it was made.
A characteristic of Southern Song Dynasty kilns is that there are two thick knots in the neck, one in the body, and about three thin knots in the body.
Also, the mouth is curled so that it spreads outward.
The knots and mouth are exquisitely pointed to the extent that you do not feel discomfort when you touch it with your fingers, and it is a very high-precision pottery.
The bottom is very elaborate, typical of Southern Song Dynasty Guan Ware, and the installation surface is made very thin and uniform, about 1mm.
A subdued green glaze is applied to the black clay, and since the glaze is thin on the string crest and rim, the clay is transparent and emphasized.
A beautiful bottle with a purple mouth and iron legs.
There is no conspicuous flaws. There are some aged deterioration on the whole surface, but there is luster.
