Goryeo Dynasty Buncheong ware Mishima-type Yuhuchun Bottle with Inlaid Bee Design

This is a buncheong ware bottle dating from the transition between the late Goryeo and early Joseon dynasties.
It features the Yuhuchun (pear-shaped) form, characterized by a bulbous body, a slender neck, and a flared rim.
The piece is crafted from gray clay and decorated using an inlay technique, where patterns are stamped into the surface and filled with white slip.
In Japan, this style is known as "Mishima" ware; the name derives from the Mishima-goyomi (Mishima Calendar)—issued by Mishima Taisha Shrine—whose *kana* script patterns resembled the stamped designs on this type of pottery.
The body is divided into six sections by linear bands, with the entire surface filled with chrysanthemum motifs.
Four bee motifs are inlaid near the center of the body.
The bee is considered an auspicious symbol; because its name is a homophone for the Chinese word "feng" (meaning "to be granted an official rank"), it signifies career advancement and prosperity.
The foot is thick and roughly trimmed on the inside—a measure likely taken to prevent the vessel from bursting during firing.
The exterior is coated in a grayish-blue glaze reminiscent of celadon, making this piece a fine example of the stylistic transition from celadon to inlaid ware that occurred between the late Goryeo and early Joseon periods.

This piece is believed to be an excavated item however, it bears no conspicuous flaws or damage.
While signs of age such as minor surface marks and glaze weathering are visible overall, the piece retains a soft, rich luster.
Although there is some discoloration near the foot rim, it is an exceptional specimen in excellent condition for a large bottle of this type.
