A vase with iron painted, fired in Bunwon ware during the late Joseon Dynasty.
Bunwon ware was produced in the official kilns of the Joseon Dynasty and is characterized by its thick body and glaze, measuring 4-6mm in thickness.
It is notable for its substantial weight of 223g relative to its size.
The body has a constricted waist like a gourd, with a slender neck and a slightly flared opening.
The thin footring compared to the thickness of the body is also a characteristic of Bunwon ware, and small sand-like marks remain inside the footring.
The iron pigment lines painted on the outside of the vessel vary in thickness, and the brownish, slightly faded brushstrokes add to its charm.
It is finished with a transparent glaze, and the slightly bluish, highly white porcelain is also a characteristic of Bunwon ware.
Small scratches on the base, likely caused during firing. It has good luster throughout and is in good condition.
