Joseon Dynasty Conical Shaped Bowl and Stand

Bowl and stand fired during the Joseon Dynasty.
The bowl is conical with a pointed base that meets the rim with a rounded acorn-like shape.
It cannot be placed on its own, so it is placed on a special stand for use.
The stand has a high base and a wide rim, with a hole in the center that supports the bowl.
Made from white clay, the unique translucent black color is achieved by applying an iron glaze from above to the outside of the bowl and the entire stand.
A transparent glaze is applied to the inside of the bowl.
The brown patterns that appear in places are thought to be the result of dripping a different, matte glaze.
As the rim of the bowl is unglazed, it was fired rim-down, creating an interesting pattern with the spots hanging upwards.
As the bottom of the stand is unglazed, it was fired in the normal position.
With bowls of this shape, the user would have an aide hold the stand rather than placing the bowl on the stand themselves.
Not only is it unusual in shape, but it is also an item that is likely to have been used by someone of high rank.

There is a very small chip on the inside of the rim, but this is a mark made during firing.There are no other noticeable flaws.It has good luster throughout and is in good condition.
