Size : H10.9cm W6.8cm
This celadon bottle was made during the Goryeo period.
It has a rounded body and a short neck ending in a thick rim.
The body is decorated with four cranes and four clouds in black and white inlay.
This cloud and crane design is an auspicious design that signifies longevity, and was used on Goryeo celadon in the royal courts of Korea.
The white parts of the pattern are slightly raised, making it even more rare as it may have been created by squeezing cosmetic clay through a narrow opening to create raised decoration.
The beak, eyes, feet, etc. are finely inlaid with black inlaid.
The celadon glaze applied has a slight oxidized appearance due to firing, and the strong grey colour matches the noble atmosphere of the pattern.
A few small stones remain on the base, which were used to prevent the glaze from sticking to the kiln during firing, giving it a distinctive Goryeo feel.
Although the surface is slightly aged, It has a nice texture that makes you feel the passage of time. Some of the glaze has peeled off. There are no other noticeable flaws.
