This celadon bottle was fired at an Guan ware during the Southern Song dynasty.
It has a narrow neck, a long body, and a rounded shoulders, known as a Meiping bottle, and was primarily used as a sake vessel.
It is generously coated with a vibrant grayish-blue celadon glaze.
Horizontal grooves throughout the bottle add a sense of shadow to the monotonous surface.
The crackled glaze follows the contours of the string pattern.
The foot is uniformly carved, exposing the black clay typical of Southern Song Guan ware.
Five nail marks remain on the base, a remnant of Northern Song dynasty works such as Ru and Jun ware, and a rare feature for Southern Song Guan Ware.
While this is a typical Meiping bottle shape, the slightly thicker body further accentuates the string pattern.
There is no conspicuous flaws. It has good luster throughout and is in good condition.
