This is a celadon bowl fired as Guan ware during the Southern Song Dynasty.
It is bowl-shaped with a plump bottom and a curved mouth.
The bottom is well-balanced and made thin, about 1mm, with the black clay exposed.
A slightly grayish celadon glaze is applied to the entire bowl, leaving the base unglazed.
When the celadon glaze is magnified, a fine granular texture can be seen, and the inner surface in particular has green streaks due to the ingredients of the glaze and the firing conditions.
There is crazing on the surface of the glaze, with large and clear crazing on the wider parts of the surface and fine crazing around the edges of the mouth.
Guan ware was a kiln that fired ceramics for emperors and imperial courts, and was known to produce many bottles, washbasins, and incense burners, with bowls being a relatively small proportion of the total.
Although it looks a simple bowl, there are surprisingly few other examples of this type, making it a rare item.
There is no conspicuous flaws. There is a small aged deterioration on the surface, but overall it is luster and in good condition.
