Joseon Dynasty Ewer with Under Iron Glaze Bamboo Design

This is a small Ewer fired in the late Joseon Dynasty.
It has a high bottom, angular waist, a trapezoidal body, and angular shoulders.
The opening at the top is small and extends upwards, with a lid that covers it.
The lid is double-layered so that it fits inside the opening, but is made to be roomy.
There is a small knob on the top of the lid.
There is a cylindrical spout around the shoulder, and on the other side there is a jagged semicircular handle with two holes.
The body is somewhat thick, and its linear shape is thought to be that of a Bunwon Ware, a late official kiln.
The bottom is slightly raised in the center, and was fired with a small amount of sand.
A thick layer of slightly grayish glaze is applied over the entire piece, and there are traces that appear to be the potter's finger marks on the sides of the foot.
On one side of the body, a bamboo image is painted with strong brushstrokes using slightly brownish iron glaze.
Straight bamboo symbolizes noble men and, along with the plum, orchid, and chrysanthemum, are known as the "Four Gentlemen" and have been popular subjects in Oriental paintings.
The combination of the linear shape of the vessel, the thorny handle, and the straight bamboo gives this unusual Ewer a sense of strength.

There is a thin crack near the base that may cause water leakage. Please use it for ornamental or repair it.
