Goryeo Celadon Covered Box with Inlaid Peony Design

This celadon box was fired during the Goryeo period.
When viewed from the side, it resembles the beads of an abacus, divided into top and bottom sections and a shallow cavity within.
This item is particularly wide, with straight lines on the shoulders and top, giving it a sharp impression.
Box were often used by women to store cosmetics, wax, incense, etc., and inlaid flowers and other motifs were also popular.
The black and white inlaid peony design in the center is said to be the "king of flowers," and represents happiness, wealth, nobility, and beauty.
The peony is bordered by inlaid edges, and the sides are completely covered with a key pattern.
The entire piece is covered in a grayish-blue celadon glaze, and the interior and bottom have fine crackle glaze and crinkled glaze, revealing the appearance of old Goryeo-era glazes.
There are four stone marks on the bottom and sand marks below the peony on the top.
It is a little unfortunate that the top and bottom pieces may not be a set, as the key patterns are different and the sides do not line up perfectly.
However, judging from the glaze and clay, the top and bottom pieces appear to have been made at the same time.
Peony designs are rare, and there is no doubt that this is a rare piece in which Goryeo pottery-making techniques can be seen throughout.

The clay itself is dry and slightly rough, so the rim is bumpy all over.
There is also a chip on the edge of the lid.
There is a small hole in the glaze on the bottom, which is a damage caused during firing.
The glaze has also aged overall, so the condition cannot be described as good, but the pattern, thickness of the glaze and the crazing are unusual, so I am putting it up for sale.
