Goryeo Celadon Water Dropper in the form of a duck

This celadon water dropper was fired at the Gangjin or Buan kilns in Jeolla Province, Korea, during the Goryeo dynasty.
Water dropper used to hold small amounts of water when blending ink in calligraphy, and they were particularly well-developed on the Korean Peninsula, with a wide variety of playful droppers being created among literati.
It has a rounded, plump shape, and the feathers are carved in relief so that they overlap, and are further intricately carved with line engraving.
A lotus flower is placed on top of the feather to serve as a water inlet, and the attached leaf is painted black with iron.
The face has a prominent forehead, and the eyes are carved and outlined, with the pupils painted black with iron.
The beak is similarly divided into upper and lower sections with intaglio carving, and there is a hole at the tip to allow water to drain.
Three large stone marks remain on the base to prevent it from sticking to the kiln during firing, and brown areas of the womb are visible in places.
The entire piece is covered in a slightly greyish celadon glaze typical of Goryeo celadon, allowing the engraved pattern to stand out beautifully.
There is no gaudy decoration, and the piece exudes a sense of elegance and has been made with great care.
The shape is similar to that of pieces in museums, and it is thought to have been a typical bird design.

 There is a crack in the lotus on the back, but this occurred during firing and has been filled with glaze.
There are no other conspicuous flaws.It has good luster throughout and is in good condition.
