Goryeo Black Glazed Meiping Bottle

This is a black-glazed bottle made in the mid-Goryeo period.
It is known as a black Goryeo bottle as it is covered entirely in black glaze.
The glaze is slightly brownish, and depending on the uneven temperature of the fire it shows various expressions from yellowish brown to black.
It is moist, and the glaze shrinks around the shoulders and waist, creating a beautiful scene.
It has a narrow mouth, a long length and a narrow waist, and a rounded shape from the body to the shoulders, known as a Meiping bottle, and was used as a sake bottle.
It is slightly large, over 20cm in height, and there are potter's wheel marks around the waist and traces of where the divisions were joined on the body, giving a sense of the fine texture of the pottery.
The bottom is unglazed, allowing the rough texture of the clay to be seen.
The charm of black Goryeo is its simple yet powerful presence.

There are some aged deterioration on the whole surface, but there is luster.There is a thin repair mark about 10cm long in the center of the body.Due to the nature of the clay and the firing method, the bottom is rough and may contain some chips.
