Southern Song Dynasty Celadon Flower Edge Teabowl with Signature
Southern Song Dynasty Celadon Flower Edge Teabowl with Signature
Period : Southern Song dynasty,China(1127 - 1279) / 12-13C
Size : H4.3cm W13.7cm
This celadon plate was made as Guan ware during the Southern Song dynasty.
It has a wide base and a large opening that spreads out into six flowers.
The petals have clear creases and each petal is gently curved.
The base widens slightly, no clay is exposed, and five nail marks remain within the base.
This type of base construction is rare for Guan ware and is a vestige of the firing techniques used at official kilns before the Southern Song official kilns.
The inscription "Southern Song Guan Kiln" is inscribed in the center, but it is extremely rare to find a piece with the words "南宋官窯" stamped on it.
The black clay, which is typical of Southern Song official kilns, is rich in iron and is covered with glaze all the way to the bottom.
The black clay can be seen through places where the glaze is transparent.
The glassy, gray-blue glaze has fine, distinct crackle glazes that give it a beautiful shine.
There is no conspicuous flaws. It has good luster throughout and is in good condition.
