Joseon Dynasty White Porcelain Censer with Handles
Period : Late Joseon Dynasty(1392 - 1897),Korea / 18C
Size : H14.1cm W11.8cm(Lid H5.6cm W7.9cm/Body H11.4cm W11.8cm)
This white porcelain censer was made in the late Joseon dynasty.
The body is bulging at the bottom, and the opening is shaped like a curved plate.
A shallow groove is made at the opening and a hemispherical lid is fitted into it.
The lid has a gourd-like knob on the top and has countless holes through which incense smoke can escape.
The base is high and has diamond-shaped holes.
The handle is plate-shaped and the top is curved so that it can be hung from the body to the edge of the opening.
The entire piece is glazed tightly, except for the inside bottom and the edge of the lid, and the glaze is a slightly bluish white color.
Due to insufficient stirring of the glaze and uneven firing temperatures, some parts appear pale pink and green, creating a mysterious appearance.
Despite its very old-fashioned shape, the glaze is beautiful and the incense burner has a very nice texture.
There are a few small scratches around the lid. There are no other noticeable flaws. It has good luster throughout and is in good condition.
