Southern Song Dynasty Tenmoku Tea Bowl with Hare’s-Fur Glaze

This Tenmoku tea bowl was made at Jian ware during the Southern Song Dynasty.
The belly widens in a gentle arc from the inner bottom, and the top edge rises slightly inward, with a slightly curved rim.
This is a representative Tenmoku tea bowl shape, and is very well balanced.
It is made using sticky clay containing iron, and is made thick.
The entire bowl is coated with a thick iron glaze, giving it a jet black glaze color.
As the glaze flows down, the rim is thin, and a thick layer accumulates on the inner bottom.
The components in the glaze separate on the inner and outer glaze surfaces due to the kiln change phenomenon, and when they melt again, a pattern appears.
The pattern that flows in vertical lines is called Hare's-Fur Glaze.
Among Hare's-Fur Glaze pieces, this one has particularly thin and long lines, creating an ideal pattern.
It is also very rare that the glaze is applied just slightly above the high outer base, with absolutely no dripping.
The bottom is a shallow ring-shaped foot with the corners cut at an angle.
