Northern Song Dynasty Ru ware Celadon Bottle with Flower Rim Design

A celadon vase fired at Ru ware during the Northern Song dynasty.
It has an angular, bulging body, small, taut shoulders, a curved neck, and a flower-shaped mouth.
The neck has shallow grooves that are spaced closely together, and the five petals at the mouth spread widely.
Because the glaze is applied all the way to the bottom, five nail marks remain on the bottom where it was fired on a support.
Another characteristic of Ru ware is that they are smaller than a grain of rice and are evenly spaced.
Ru ware celadon is a milky, soft-looking light blue with a thin glassy texture.
This celadon color is likened to a moist sky after rain.
Because the vitreous texture is thin, the crackle-glazed texture is shallow and fine.
The white grains at the base of the neck, the mouth, and around the foot are thought to be fading caused by the glaze components, and are a common feature of Ru ware celadon.
Many of the celadon pieces from Ru ware created with the aim of being beautiful works of art, and some, like this piece, have unique shapes.
Among them, this piece is particularly rare, with a shape that has not been seen since early modern times.
