Goryeo Celadon Bottle with Incised Flower Design

This vase was made in the mid-Goryeo dynasty.
It has a rounded, taut body and shoulders, a long, slender neck, and a wide mouth.
The body is carved with a floral design, and the petals and grass are smooth and finely drawn.
The bottom is wide and tall, and the lotus petal design that goes all the way around is finished in fine detail.
The thick, gray-green celadon glaze is thought to date to around the 12th century, and is a very clear and vivid piece, even among Goryeo celadon.
The jade-colored celadon created in the 12th century was highly regarded in the Song dynasty in China.
There are marks on the bottom where it was placed on pebbles to prevent it from sticking to the kiln during firing.
This is an excellent piece that makes use of the surface of the vessel and allows you to experience both the spreading floral design and the elegant color of the celadon at the same time.

There is a crack all the way around the base of the neck, making it unsuitable for practical use. However, incised Goryeo celadon is rare, so it is recommended as a collection or reference.
The cracks are not so severe that it would be unsteady to hold.
The glaze on part of the body has a dark color due to uneven firing. Apart from some fading of the glaze around the mouth, the whole piece is shiny and beautiful.
