This is a celadon water dropper fired at the Gangjin or Buan kilns in Jeolla Province, Korea during the Goryeo Dynasty.
Water droppers, a tool used to pour water onto an inkstone for calligraphy, were developed on the Korean Peninsula, and a wide variety of playful ones were made.
This piece is shaped like a bird, and is thought to represent a waterfowl floating on the water.
The overall shape is rounded and plump, with the feathers and cockscomb on the head carved in intaglio, and the eyes are small and inlaid with black.
It has a lotus vine in its beak and a lotus on its back, creating a gorgeous design.
The entire piece is covered in a slightly grayish celadon glaze typical of Goryeo celadon, which makes the intaglio pattern stand out beautifully.
The moist, calm atmosphere matches well with the plump shape of the vessel.
It has a similar shape to that found in museums and other establishments, and is thought to have been a typical bird-shaped design.

Although the surface is slightly aged, it has a good luster.
