Joseon Dynasty White Glaze Tea Bowl (Kohiki Type)
Joseon Dynasty White Glaze Tea Bowl (Kohiki Type)
Period : Late Joseon Dynasty(1392 - 1897),Korea / 17-18C
Size : H5.5cm W13.5cm
A white porcelain tea bowl made in the late Joseon dynasty.
Made from grey clay, it has a rounded waist and a significantly curved rim.
Traces of it being fired on top of another remain on the front face.
The base spreads downwards, and inside the base there are small corners that leave swirls.
Thick white clay was poured over the entire inside and from the outer mouth to the base, and it was finished with a clear glaze from above, having turned slightly yellowish with age.
The contrast between the grey clay and the irregularly dripping white clay, the fine crackle-glazed areas, and the finger marks made during the glazing create a beautiful warm scene.
This piece is a heirloom and is in very tasteful condition.
There are three chips on the base, which are thought to have been caused in ancient times. There are no other noticeable flaws.Although the surface is slightly aged, It has a nice texture that makes you feel the passage of time.
