The red glaze is thought to contain a lot of copper oxide, and is so deep and vivid that it is eye-catching.
There will be fine lines on the surface, and the front face and bottom sides will turn a little purple.
This is due to discoloration and patterns that occur in the glaze in the kiln during the firing process.
Transformation Glaze was destroyed during the Tang and Ming dynasties as it was thought to be ominous and strange, and was not appreciated as a work of art.
However, after the Qing Dynasty, the understanding of glazes deepened, and Transformation Glaze became highly regarded as beautiful.
During the Yongzheng and Qianlong periods, people began to consider Transformation Glaze to be auspicious.
It has a small bottom and a straight open shape, resembling a hat.
If you look at the sides of the bottom, you will see that it is very thickly glazed, and the use of different glazes, with white glaze applied to the inner and lower surfaces of the elevated platform, is a characteristic feature of this era.
Transformation Glaze can be said to be a joint product of heaven and man, and has high value among Chinese ceramic bowls.
