Song Dynasty Cizhou Ware Yellow Glazed Water Dropper with Ring-shaped
Song Dynasty Cizhou Ware Yellow Glazed Water Dropper with Ring-shaped
Period : Northern Song dynasty,China(960 - 1127) / 11-12C
Size : H2.7cm W9.2cm
Water droplets made in Cizhou ware during the Song Dynasty.
We use white, fine-grained clay typical of the Cizhou ware in Hebei.
It is formed into a ring shape with a hole in the center, and has a thin spout and a water inlet on the opposite side.
If you look at the bottom, it is not flat but has a raised shape, which is a great idea to minimize the installation surface.
A thick layer of bright yellow glaze is applied, giving it an expressive effect depending on the shade, and is so glassy that it can be crackle-glazed.
The two grass patterns decorated with engravings on the top are three-dimensional, and the shading of the glaze further expresses the veins of the leaves.
This item looks great not only as a water dropper, but also as a single flower vase.
There is no conspicuous flaws. It has good luster throughout and is in good condition.
