Northern Song Dynasty Ru ware Meiping Vases
Northern Song Dynasty Ru ware Meiping Vases
Period : Northern Song dynasty,China(960 - 1127)
Size : H27.2cm W15.9cm
A celadon bottle made in the Ru ware during the Northern Song Dynasty.
The mouth is narrow, the waist is narrow, and the body is rounded from the torso to the shoulders.
This shape was invented in the early Northern Song Dynasty as a drinking vessel, and from the Qing Dynasty it came to be called "Meiping".
The mouth is shaped like an abacus ball.
The pale light blue color of the celadon, which looks like it contains moisture after rain, has a beauty that is different from other celadon.
In the Ru ware, the pottery is fired on support nails, so the bottom is glazed, leaving five nail marks as small as a grain of rice.
Although the surface of this large vessel tends to be monotonous, it has three-dimensional horizontal chord patterns all over it, and the differences in the thickness of the glaze due to the unevenness create shades of light and shade, making it a very impressive piece to see.
There is no conspicuous flaws. The glaze contains fine crackle-glazed marks due to the passage of time. There is a small aged deterioration on the surface, but overall it is luster and in good condition.
