Southern Song Dynasty Tenmoku Tea Bowl with Oil-Spot

A Tenmoku tea bowl made in the Jian ware during the Southern Song dynasty.
This is a representative form of Jian ware's tenmoku tea bowls, and the abdomen spreads straight from the inner base in a V shape, and the rim has a constricted soft-shelled turtle-shaped mouth.
It is said that the shape of the tea bowl was born from the tea culture of the Song dynasty, and the constriction is said to prevent the hot water from splashing when making tea in the bowl.
The bottom is smaller and lower than the body of the vessel and is carved carefully, and the inside of the bottom is also shallowly cut.
Using the black and sticky clay that is unique to Jian ware, the black glaze containing a lot of iron is applied in one coat, and the area below the waist is exposed before being fired.
Due to the kiln transformation phenomenon where the components of the glaze separate during firing, small grainy spots appear on the black surface of the pottery.
This speck is brown, but it has the characteristics of a silvery glistening oil droplet pattern.
One of the charms of Tenmoku tea bowls is that the glaze flow on the side of the bottom hangs beautifully as a large drop, which is the highlight of this tea bowl.

There is no conspicuous flaws.It has good luster throughout and is in good condition.
