Size : H4.5cm W9.9cm
This celadon covered box was made in the Goryeo period.
When viewed from the side, it resembles the shape of an abacus bead, divided into upper and lower parts with a shallow hollow inside.
Covered box often has a rounded shape, but because it is wide laterally and the shoulders and top are straight, it gives a sharp impression.
Since women often used them as containers for cosmetics, wax fat, incense, etc., they were heavily decorated with inlaid patterns.
The two cranes in the center are auspicious symbols and are thought to have been owned by people of high rank at the time.
The crane is surrounded by a lotus petal pattern, and the sides are decorated with thunder patterns, all the way around the crane, creating a gorgeous design.
Many Covered box have a chrysanthemum pattern, and only a few have a crane pattern, and cranes this large are especially rare.
You can put incense sticks in it, but it is also fashionable to use it as a container for small items such as precious metals.
There is no conspicuous flaws. There is a small aged deterioration on the surface, but overall it is luster and in good condition.
