Period : Yuan Dynasty,China(1271 - 1368) / 13-14C
Size : H14.8cm W9.1cm
A celadon bottle made in the Longquan ware during the Yuan Dynasty.
A gourd-shaped is a type of vessel that was commonly seen from the Song to Yuan dynasties, and has vertical concave and convex features similar to those of fruit gourd.
It has a modest flower mouth that connects with the unevenness of its body, and the high ground is also shaped like a flower.
The shape seen from above is more like an oval than a perfect circle.
This vessel-shaped porcelain was made in both the southern and northern kilns of the Song dynasty, and later in the Yuan, Ming, and Qing.
The pale blue-green glaze, which can be called powder blue glaze celadon, is applied to the grayish white clay typical of Longquan ware.
The celadon glaze, which has almost no crackle-glazing and has a strong blue tint, is characteristic of the "Kinuta celadon" of the early Yuan Dynasty, and the unevenness of the melons creates a beautiful shading effect.
The whole piece is shiny, but the lower third of the body on one side is a little lackluster and has some discoloration. The cracks on the bottom are scratches caused during firing and have been sealed with glaze.
