This jar was made in the late Goryeo period.
It is low and wide, with a narrowing mouth horizontally.
The body is melon-shaped with eight vertical lines, and each of its eight sides is decorated with three chrysanthemum flowers in black and white inlay.
Chrysanthemum designs are a mainstream style of inlay, but it is surprisingly rare to see the branches and leaves depicted.
A Nyoi-tou pattern runs all the way around the shoulder, acting as a boundary to add definition to the surface of the vessel.
Five stone marks remain on the bottom, and a thick layer of devitrifying celadon glaze is applied to the entire surface except for the base.
It is believed that narrow-mouthed jars prevent heat from escaping, and so they were probably used as containers to keep heat in by having a lid on them.
