Southern Song Dynasty Guan ware White Graze Meiping vases
Period : Southern Song dynasty,China(1127 - 1279) / 12-13C
Size : H18.7cm W12.3cm
This is a white porcelain bottle made in the Southern Song Dynasty Guan ware.
From the small bottom, the waist is narrow, the torso is rounded to the shoulders, and the spout is narrow.
This shape was invented in the early Northern Song Dynasty and was called a "Meiping" in the Qing Dynasty.
There is a large difference in the width between the waist and the shoulder, making it a particularly imposing shape among plum vases.
The bottom is very thin and the glaze is carefully applied to the inside.
The white glaze applied throughout is thought to be a celadon glaze with the iron removed, and like the celadon of the Southern Song Guan kiln, there is a large crackle-glaze with a lot of thick glass.
The glaze color is very slightly bluish-gray, and the reddish brown of the clay is slightly transparent, giving the overall appearance a light purple tinge.
There is no conspicuous flaws. It has good luster throughout and is in good condition.
