Joseon Dynasty Blue and White Porcelain Water Bowl with Arabesque Design
Joseon Dynasty Blue and White Porcelain Water Bowl with Arabesque Design
Period : Late Joseon Dynasty(1392 - 1897),Korea / 16-17C
Size : H4.2cm W8.4cm
The Water Bowl made in the middle of the Joseon Dynasty.
Water vases are tools used to transfer water to suzuri, and many were made along with water drops during the development of calligraphy culture in the Joseon Dynasty.
It is short, shaped like an abacus ball, and has a hole at the top.
A slightly grayish-white glaze is applied to the reddish dry clay, and blue and white arabesque patterns are drawn on the body with powerful brushstrokes.
The thin pattern due to the lack of cobalt at the time, combined with the gray glaze, gives it a rustic feel.
The glaze on the surface has come off in some places, but it has a nice texture.
