Joseon Dynasty White Porcelain Water Bowl with Underglaze Iron Brown
Joseon Dynasty White Porcelain Water Bowl with Underglaze Iron Brown
Period : Mid Joseon Dynasty(1392 - 1897),Korea / 16-18C
Size : H4.1cm W6.7cm
The Water Bowl made during the Joseon Dynasty.
It is a container to store the water that is transferred to the suzu when ink is applied in calligraphy.
The bottom is small and slightly concave, and the rounded body has a hole at the top, and the cross section is smooth.
The bottom and surroundings are exposed with white, dry clay, and a slightly grayish white glaze is applied to the entire surface.
Because the glaze on the outer surface is fired in the kiln in a bubbled state due to the heat, it has unevenness and small holes, giving it a rough texture that gives it a lack of luster.
Four iron-painted floral patterns are drawn around the rim, and the pale colors match the texture of the vessel.
The glaze that accumulates around the flower pattern is white and looks like snow.
The inside is fired without bubbling and retains the original color of the glaze.
A cute water bowl with a rustic texture and a round size that fits in your hand.
Due to the foaming of the glaze, there are 2 cases where the glaze has peeled off about 4mm, and small ones are scattered. There is no conspicuous flaws.
