Goryeo Dynasty Iron Glaze Brush Stand with Openworked
Goryeo Dynasty Iron Glaze Brush Stand with Openworked
Period : Goryeo Dynasty,Korea(918 - 1392)
Size : H14cm W11.1cm
A brush stand from the Goryeo Dynasty.
It is a slightly larger vessel with a bold design that is reminiscent of Goryeo.
It stretches straight into a cylindrical shape while leaving traces of the potter's wheel.
The body has knot-like decorations on the upper and lower parts, and the lip is thickened in a belt shape.
It is openworked, with two kinds of circular flower-shaped patterns in the center and a T-shaped pattern around the top.
Black iron glaze is applied to the whole, but it has a texture similar to black mud without gloss.
There is no transparent glaze and the texture is rough.
Degradation due to the passage of time has become a tasteful texture.
There is some scraping on the rim. There is a large crack on the bottom, but it is a scratch that was attached when it was baked. It does not penetrate to the inside, so I think there is no problem functionally as a Brush Stand.
