A white porcelain Jarlet made in the late Joseon dynasty.
Bunwon kiln is a official kiln that produced high-quality white porcelain used in the Joseon dynasty.
Among the Joseon dynasty ceramics, it is solidly made and has a sense of weight.
This product also seems to be a branch hospital of the late period, with a thickness of about 6 mm at the body and a thickness of about 4 mm at the rim.
If you touch the inside of the body, you can feel the traces of the potter's wheel, but the outer surface has a smooth finish.
The mouth rim is made so that the corners stand up and fall inward.
A sand nail mark is carefully left on the bottom, and the whole is covered with a slightly bluish translucent glaze.
Korean white porcelain was highly praised for its solid white color and no pattern.
This is partly because the indigo pigment called gosu was imported from China and was considered a valuable item.
For this reason, Blue and White with a pattern was often made with a simple design that left a lot of blank space.
The characters for "Life(寿)" are applied to the body of this product, and the characters are drawn in a straight line that fits in a rectangle.
It is very difficult to draw straight characters on the curved surface of the torso without misalignment of the four letters, which is unique to the branch hospital's technology.
"Life(寿)" means "a long time until old age" in China, the birthplace of kanji, and is considered to be the most joyful character.
By drawing two lines on the rim and one line on the side of the base, it gives a straight line impression in the roundness, giving it a dignified quality.
Among Bunwon ware, which often has flowers and animals drawn, it is very rare that the pattern is in Chinese character.
In addition, the Korean peninsula has an odd number culture, but the Chinese culture of even numbers is adopted, and four patterns are drawn.
Therefore, this product is considered to be made for the royal family and aristocrats of China, and is very valuable.
