Southern Song Dynasty Black Celadon Bowl
Southern Song Dynasty Black Celadon Bowl
Period : Southern Song dynasty,China(1127 - 1279) / 12-13C
Size : H5.4cm W15.7cm
A bowl of celadon porcelain fired in a government kiln in the Southern Song dynasty.
It is large and flat, and the mouth narrows inward.
The shape seen from above is almost perfect circle.
The base is firmly made to connect with the body, and the surface is evenly exposed about 3 mm, which is typical of Southern Song Dynasty Guan ware.
There are large finger marks on the sides of the mouth and on the side of the foot, but they are thought to have been worn on purpose out of audacity, and are accented.
The entire piece is covered with a devitrifying celadon glaze, but due to the difference in the amount of iron, it is discolored to black in places.
It has a rough texture that is different from the solid celadon color.
It was actually used, and there are traces of ink on it, but it looks like a pattern and is an interesting sight.
There is one tiny chip on the bottom. There are some aged deterioration on the whole surface, but there is luster.
