Southern Song Dynasty Celadon Teabowl with Octagonal Design
Southern Song Dynasty Celadon Teabowl with Octagonal Design
Period : Southern Song dynasty,China(1127 - 1279) / 12-13C
Size : H5cm W11.2cm
A celadon tea bowl made in a official kiln during the Southern Song dynasty.
The bottom is thin and the installation surface is about 1mm, which is typical of the Guan ware of the Southern Song Dynasty.
The rim is octagonal, rounded from the round base to the waist, and angular from around the body.
Glaze is applied to the entire surface, but the black soil containing Guan ware's iron content is exposed on the installation surface.
Among the celadon glazes of the Southern Song Guan kiln, the semi-devitrified glaze has densely packed small air bubbles, giving it a pale jade color.
The penetration is large and straight, but it is also characterized by its low vitreousness and conspicuousness.
There is no conspicuous flaws. There is a small aged deterioration on the surface, but overall it is luster and in good condition.
