Qing Dynasty Ru ware-like Celadon Ewer with Dragon Handle
Qing Dynasty Ru ware-like Celadon Ewer with Dragon Handle
Period : Qing Dynasty,China(1616 - 1912) / 17-18C
Size : H20.6cm W11cm
A celadon bottle made in a Jingdezhen kiln during the Qing dynasty.
It was made to imitate the glaze of Ru ware, aiming for a light blue color that contains moisture after rain.
In fact, Ru ware-like has a slightly stronger and more vivid coloration than Ru ware, but its semi-devitrified and less glassy matte surface has characteristics similar to Ru ware.
It was used as an ewer, and has a very thin curved spout, a melon-shaped body with vertical unevenness, and a raised bottom that curves outward.
A dragon-like handle is attached to tie the mouth and shoulder.
Glazed all the way to the bottom, leaving 3 small nail marks.
The pottery is roughly modeled on the shape of the Ru ware, but the finer details show the Qing Dynasty techniques.
It is said that in Jingdezhen, from the Ming Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty, they admired the five great kilns of the Song dynasty and imitated ceramics.
It is a beautiful piece of porcelain that combines the highest level of Qing dynasty pottery technology and a glaze that imitates the Ru kiln.
There is no conspicuous flaws. There is a small aged deterioration on the surface, but overall it is luster and in good condition.
