Southern Song Dynasty Black Celadon Bottle
Southern Song Dynasty Black Celadon Bottle
Period : Southern Song dynasty,China(1127 - 1279) / 12-13C
Size : H14.1cm W10.3cm
A celadon bottle made in the Southern Song dynasty.
It has a small base and a trumpet-shaped that widens toward the mouth edge.
This shape was originally used for flower vases in ancient Chinese copperware.
It is covered with a celadon glaze that is thought to contain a lot of iron, giving it a deep green celadon color.
Considering the celadon porcelain of the time, which was aimed at greenish blue color, it can be regarded as a failed work, but that is why it is rare.
Because of its shape, which was originally used for antique copperware, the calm dark green is harmonious.
There are several chips on the bottom. There is a small aged deterioration on the surface, but overall it is luster and in good condition.
