Size : H10.5cm W9.6cm (RId:H1.8cm W9.3cm / Bottom:H9.6cm)

A celadon lidded pot fired during the Goryeo Dynasty.
It has a straight, cylindrical body and a flat lid at the mouth.
It is somewhat large, and the presence of four feet suggests that it was also used as an censer with the lid open.
The center of the body and lid is decorated with black and white inlay, including two rare Sanskrit characters.
Sanskrit characters are the writing system used in India and were introduced to Korea.
While there are surviving examples of Sanskrit characters being used on roof tiles and bronze vessels during the Goryeo Dynasty, their use in celadon inlay is extremely rare.
Sanskrit characters are complex, combining vowels, symbols, and consonants, and the meaning and other details of the characters on this piece are unknown.
The body is filled with cloud and crane motifs between the Sanskrit characters, with floral motifs at the top and lotus petal motifs at the bottom.
The lid also features four cloud and crane motifs surrounding the Sanskrit characters, surrounded by floral motifs.
The potter's wheel marks remain on the bottom, and the feet show traces of stone marks used during firing.
The glaze covering the entire piece is a grayish-greenish-blue, with some crackle-glazed, giving it a nice texture.
With the rise of Islamic regimes, India began importing ceramics from Korea and China, and it is thought that this piece was made either for India or for Buddhists in Korea as part of that trade.
Previously, we had a similar piece with a chrysanthemum motif; this is the same piece but with a cloud and crane motif.

One of its feet is slightly raised, causing it to wobble a bit, but it can stand upright without any problems.
