Southern Song Dynasty Black Celadon Bottle
Southern Song Dynasty Black Celadon Bottle
Period : Southern Song dynasty,China(1127 - 1279) / 12C
Size : H15.8cm W9.3cm
A celadon bottle made in a official kiln during the Southern Song dynasty.
This vase has a plate-like mouth, slim neck, anglar shoulder, tubular body, and a flat base.
This shape imitates a tool for beating cloth softly.
The celadon glaze, which is thought to contain a lot of iron, is applied to the black clay typical of Southern Song Dynasty Guan ware, giving it a darker green color than normal celadon.
At that time, celadon was mainly greenish blue, so there are few black ones left, and there are not many of them.
The glaze is blackish, and the white crackle-glazed shines to create an expression in the simple shape of the bottle.
There is no conspicuous flaws.Although the surface is slightly aged, it has a good luster.
